How to get to Amsterdam from the airport

The following means of transportation are the best ways to get to Amsterdam city center:

  • Train: It is the quickest and cheapest way to get to the city center of Amsterdam. Every day numerous trains depart from the airport and take between 15 and 20 minutes to get to Amsterdam Centraal Station. A one-way ticket is 4.20 (US$ 4.50), plus 1 (US$ 1.10) for the travel card (Smart Card).
  • Buses: There are several lines that connect the airport and Amsterdam, but these are more expensive and take longer. We recommend this option if one of the lines stops close to your hotel or apartment.
  • Airport transfer services: The most comfortable and hassle-free way of getting from the airport to the city centre is by booking a private airport transfer service. The chauffeur will be waiting for you at the arrival terminal with a sign with your name on it. You can book your easy, hassle-free Amsterdam Airport Transfer Service here.
  • Taxi: If you are traveling with a group of friends or family and have a lot of luggage, a taxi is always a comfortable option. A taxi to most centrally-located hotels is approximately 50 (US$ 53.80).

One of the best airports of Europe

In the past, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was voted the world's best airport in various occasions thanks to its design, services provided and easy access. However, in recent years Asian airports (Hong Kong and Singapore especially) have been modernized and have overtaken Schiphol as world's best airport.
