Vondelpark is the largest and most-famous park in Amsterdam. It is one of the favorite spots to go for a stroll, ride along its pathways on a bike, do some sports, have a picnic or relax reading a book. The park also includes several cafés with charming terraces.

With over 10 million visitors a year, Vondelpark is the most popular and most-visited green space in Amsterdam and in the entire country.

The city’s main green lung is 470,000 square meters and houses endless types of plants and small animals that enjoy entertaining the numerous visitors.

In 1996, the park was declared “state monument” (Rijksmonument in Dutch), demonstrating the great cultural and historical value the space has.

Great place to discover

Vondelpark is an ideal place to visit if you are traveling with children or wish to rest a bit from so much sightseeing. The park is in the heart of Amsterdam, very near Leidseplein. It is very easy to get to.

If you visit Amsterdam in the summer, the park usually houses various concerts and open-air theatre plays.
