After meeting at the indicated time at Amsterdam River Cruise Dock, you'll travel by bus to the city's port, where you'll board a boat taking you to the Wadden Sea. During the journey, you can relax on deck and watch as the postcard-perfect farms, fishing villages and fields of windmills pass by!
Once you've reached the UNESCO World Heritage protected area, get ready to spot the many animals that seek refuge in the Wadden Sea. From the boat you'll be able to see grey seals, porpoises and other marine animals. Thanks to its calm waters and mud flats, the Waddensea is home to increasing numbers of a number of different species of seal.
You'll be able to see the distinctive features of each seal as the boat navigates through the area which is also a crucial stopover point for millions of migrating birds. Only a few metres from here, you'll see picturesque towns and fishing villages still preserving their historical charm.
The boat will dock in Harlingen, giving you the opportunity to see how the people of these tiny Dutch towns live their lives. On the way back to Amsterdam, you'll also be able to visit the famous causeway that links North Holland and Friesland, constructed to protect the country from flooding.
After an exciting day, the boat will drop you back off at the River Cruise Dock.
Seals are very common in the Wadden Sea. However, their presence is unpredictable and we therefore cannot guarantee how many or which species you will see during your visit.
