Volendam, Marken, Edam, & Zaanse Schans Express Day Trip
Haarlem, Volendam, & Zaanse Schans Tour
At the designated time, we'll meet at De Ruijterkade, number 151, in the center of Amsterdam. Are you ready to discover some of the most beautiful and iconic places in Holand? Let's go!
We'll leave the Dutch capital behind and set off to Zaanse Schans, on the riverbank of the Zaan. Here, the traditional 15th-century houses, and of course, the famous windmills, await. During the tour, we'll tell you how windmiss have helped build the country and visit the best spots to take the prettiest pictures.
Then, we'll head to Edam, famous for its unparalleled cheese. We'll walk around its historic center and its square, where its traditional market takes place. Afterward, we'll head to the picturesque fishing town of Volendam, where we'll make a quick stop at a cheese shop so you can witness how Gouda and Edam cheeses are made. The best part? You'll enjoy a tasting!
To continue immersing ourselves in Dutch culture, we'll also visit a clog workshop, where you'll learn how these artisanal wooden shoes are crafted.
Our last stop of the day will be in Marken, an island town on the shores of Lake IJssel. Did you know it was first a lake, then a sea, and then a lake again? Here, we'll stroll along its streets and canals adorned with Dutch houses.
We'll end our tour in front of the A'DAM Lookout, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 6.5 hours.
Amsterdam Canals Boat Ride
If you want an even more complete experience, we recommend booking the option with a boat ride through Amsterdam. In this case, from the last spot of the day trip, in A'DAM Lookout, you'll embark on a 1-hour cruise with an audio guide in English to explore the canals that cross the Dutch capital. It's the perfect way to end the tour!
Additional Info
Please note that the visit to Marken may change due to safety reasons in case of bad weather. This express day trip is designed to offer a scenic view of the Dutch countryside without having to spend an entire day out of Amsterdam.
